Responsive means "responsive" or "adjustable" in English. In simpler terms, a responsive design is therefore a website that has been developed to adapt to the respective screen size.

Features that can be programmed as responsive include adjusting to the width and height of the browser window and the size of the device. Another important aspect in this context is the screen resolution and the raster graphics of the website content adapted to it.

 

This, in turn, varies depending on the chosen layout, which can be either landscape or portrait format. For some PCs and all tablets and mobile devices, input options are a factor that can be ensured through responsive design.

 

This allows the keyboard to open only after clicking on the input field, thus enabling the user to enter the desired text. Newer devices now also all offer the option of issuing commands using a voice function.

 

Unlike mobile websites, which are specifically designed for mobile devices, websites with responsive design adapt themselves to the given device, browser and size.

 

In an adaptive Website In contrast, similar to a mobile website, only a template is created, into which so-called breakpoints are set. The page breaks along these breakpoints, and the content is distributed accordingly. However, the layout remains static between the breakpoints.

 

This allows for partial adaptation to the given circumstances, but not to the same extent as is the case with the fluid adaptation of websites with responsive design.

 

A third distinction from responsive design is liquid design, which involves adapting the content to the browser size. However, unlike responsive web design, the arrangement of the various integrated layout elements is not changed.

 

Therefore, responsive design is the best solution for today's very high demands placed on websites. While creating a website with responsive design is more complex, it pays off. Firstly, because only one website needs to be programmed, and secondly, because of the superior user-friendliness.
