Content Marketing

What is content marketing?

In short: advertising that ideally is not recognizable as advertising and offers added value to the reader or customer! Ideally, it also also utilizes Google.

How does content marketing work?

According to experts, content marketing is the modern and new form of discreet advertising. It aims to replace not only commercials, but also banners and other online advertising methods.

What exactly does content marketing mean?

Content simply means the “Content of a text“or “a video”. Thus, content marketing translates to: advertising through text creation or advertising via the created text.

We would now like to reveal how this new type of advertising works and what kind of success it brings.

What is the purpose of content marketing?

Essentially, content marketing is advertising, but it's not perceived as such by the customer. It primarily involves creating informative content, such as text or video. This content answers questions from potential buyers, questions that aren't always directly related to the product being sold. Therefore, the customer doesn't immediately recognize that they're seeing or reading an advertisement. They feel like they've been searching for information and have found it!

Therefore, content marketing can involve completely different information than traditional advertising. The product being promoted might only be mentioned incidentally or represent the perfect solution to a specific problem. Either way, the customer doesn't feel pressured to buy anything.

In content marketing, the informative content of the text takes center stage, and the advertising is not directly recognizable.

How does traditional advertising differ from content marketing?

Traditional advertising, whether broadcast on television or online, has one clear goal: to introduce a product and highlight its advantages. The aim is to convince the customer that it is a far superior product to those offered by the competition. Of course, some advertising may reveal what the product can be used for, but this is not the primary message. The sole objective is to present a specific product and thereby persuade the consumer to purchase it.

Content advertising takes a completely different approach. It reveals important information about how a specific problem can be solved. Of course, it's also possible, for example, to tuck a product away in a crafting tutorial. In this case, you point out that a particular tool is suitable for completing the project. The reader primarily absorbs the instructions but still remembers which tool they can use.

Where is content marketing published?

Content marketing is typically distributed via the internet. The following options are available:

  • a blog of one's own
  • Social media platforms like YouTube, Twitter and Facebook
  • Newsletter

Depending on the chosen platform, the content can be created as text or video. Consumers also find a sensible combination of text and video appealing. For example, a drill can be presented more effectively within the context of a construction manual, and the consumer doesn't feel like they're being bombarded with advertising. They still see exactly what the machine looks like and can therefore make a more informed purchase decision.

A blog is worthwhile for both individuals and online shop owners. Blog posts are often read more frequently than dry product descriptions. Numerous photos and short videos also present the product much more effectively. Content marketing for online shops also works in a different way:

An information page presents many important details. It's especially important that this information is interesting and valuable. The reader should feel like they're dealing with a true expert. If the page only contains information that's also available elsewhere, the reader will quickly leave. Only if they find genuinely important and new information will they stay on the page. Links to your own online shop and product can be hidden within the text. All these measures are also beneficial for... organic search on Google Important! Because such texts also contain... keywords

How do you approach creating content marketing?

Here we present a short step-by-step guide:

  • First, the target group must be defined.
  • Next, the publication method is selected.
  • Now, relevant information about the product to be sold needs to be found.
  • This information must be presented in such a way that the customer enjoys reading or viewing it.
  • In the next step, new content will be created and published regularly.
  • One way is Storytelling

Important The key is to keep your customers regularly informed. It's not enough to create a website once and then neglect to update it. You need to consistently create new content to maintain customer interest.

How is content marketing found on the internet?

Of course, it's not enough to simply create good and valuable content. Potential buyers also need to be able to find it. Therefore, the texts should always be... SEO based. SEO means Search Engine optimizationA buyer enters the words they are looking for into a search engine, or they ask verbally. If these words are present in the text, the search engine can find them.

It's important to understand that the search terms are entered into the search engine one after the other and therefore don't form a coherent sentence. These words must not appear in the text in this way. Otherwise, the customer will clearly recognize that the text wasn't written for them. Instead, they'll see it as advertising copy. This will literally put the customer off. It's also unnecessary, as search engines now read and analyze entire texts! This analysis can take some time.

Is content marketing suitable for acquiring new customers?

Modern advertising methods are perfectly suited for generating new customers. However, this doesn't work after creating a single piece of content. Most likely, new, high-value content needs to be created regularly. High value means providing the reader with entirely new information. If the text only contains facts they already know, they won't visit the blog or website again.

The more helpful articles a customer finds, the more often they will visit. This presents a significant opportunity for them to make a purchase sooner or later – as long as they don't feel pressured to buy anything. If, on the other hand, tips are offered and new ideas are casually presented, the consumer is more likely to browse the online shop or website.

Content marketing generates interest in new things! The buyer gets the feeling that they want to buy the product and not that it is being forced upon them.

Does content marketing work with existing customers?

Content marketing can also be used with existing customers. For example, they can be kept up-to-date via a blog or newsletter. It's also important that the customer doesn't feel like they're being sold something. If they do, they won't read the newsletter.

For existing customers, it's worthwhile to create several newsletters and tailor them to their purchasing behavior. This makes customers feel valued and pleased to receive new information that matches their hobbies or interests. Most customers appreciate this approach and look forward to future newsletters.

Content marketing can be created in the form of newsletters. Customers look forward to receiving them, provided there is no advertising in the newsletter!

Does content marketing work even without your own online store?

so-called Affiliate marketing works when it focuses on providing added value! Content marketing is also suitable for promoting other shops or products. In this case, a corresponding link must be included in the text, which generates a commission upon purchase. Ultimately, it's possible to promote multiple online shops via a single blog without the consumer realizing it. A vast selection of topics ensures that everyone can find something they are knowledgeable about. Content improves when the author identifies with the subject matter. This makes the content appear authentic and resonates with readers. Then, the advertising is no longer recognized as such. Instead, the reader believes they are receiving well-intentioned advice.

Why is content marketing a future-oriented form of advertising?

Everyone has experienced the frustration of trying to read an article only to be interrupted by advertisements. Often, these ads are designed in such a way that normal reading becomes impossible because they obscure the important text. Sometimes, you can't even click them away, or it's simply annoying when too many ads appear.

Content marketing prevents this. This new type of advertising is no longer perceived as such. The reader can fully concentrate on the text and extract the information relevant to them. This way, they don't feel intrusive, yet are still encouraged to make a purchase.

Furthermore, nobody needs a shop that only appears prominently in Google search results through expensive advertising. Ideally, organic search results are sufficient, and their products are listed at the top free of charge.

This makes it possible to share personal experiences while still promoting an online shop. The more honest a text appears and the more practical everyday tips it contains, the more likely customers are to browse the shop and purchase the advertised product. It's always important that the customer doesn't feel pressured to buy, but rather makes the purchase voluntarily.

That's the trick to content marketing: The goal of content marketing is to make the buyer feel that they genuinely want the product because they need it.
