URL Rating

The URL rating (UR) (Uniform Resource Locator URL for short) is one of the SEO metrics provided by Ahrefs, a widely used toolset. It allows for the analysis of link profiles and their quality that point to the specified website.

What does URL rating mean?

The URL score shows the strength of a page's link profile on a 100-point scale. The higher the number, the stronger the page's link profile.

Important information about URL rating:

  • UR is a metric based on Page level, while DR provides a metric on Domain level That is, if you enter a website into Ahrefs' Site Explorer and check its URL, the displayed number will only apply to the homepage.
  • The scale is logarithmic, which means that it is much easier to go from UR 20 to UR 30 than from UR 70 to UR 80.
  • Both internal and external links are taken into account.
  • Algorithms detect and break "link loops" – the mutual exchange of ratings between two websites.
  • The algorithm also removes some links that could artificially inflate the UR.
  • There is no difference between the HTTP and HTTPS versions of a URL. Both http://ahrefs.com/ as well as most https://ahrefs.com/ have the same rating.

Interpreting URL ratings

This URL rating metric measures a given page on a 100-point scale.

The rule is very simple:

The quality of a Google My Business's link profile is a key factor for Google ranking. The lower the score, the weaker the link profile. A high score of 100 indicates that the My Business has high-quality customer reviews and that both internal and external links are functioning well.

According to the Ahrefs development team, this metric is a reliable indicator of the quality of My Business's link profile.
