Misaki Knives is a Swiss brand of high-quality Damascus knives, combining traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern design. Each blade is made from premium Damascus steel and is characterized by exceptional sharpness, durability, and a distinctive pattern.

SEO challenge

At the start of the collaboration, Misaki Knives was at a complete standstill from an SEO perspective. The website had a Domain Rating (DR) of 0, meaning it had virtually no authority in organic search results. Consequently, its organic visibility was extremely low and remained consistently at a very low level for an extended period.

At the same time, the company relied heavily on Google Ads to generate revenue and reach. While the performance channel was established, it was completely detached from a sustainable SEO strategy. Organic rankings, content structure, and backlinks were largely ignored for years, leaving valuable long-term growth potential untapped.

The central challenge was therefore to build SEO from the ground up:

  • without existing domain authority
  • without historically established rankings
  • and in parallel to a strongly cost-driven paid traffic model

The goal was to establish a scalable, independent acquisition channel and to reduce dependence on paid traffic in the medium term.

SEO Roadmap – Strategy

To sustainably establish Misaki Knives in the organic search environment, a holistic SEO roadmap was developed, based on systematic processes and clearly prioritized measures. The goal was to build the domain from the ground up and gradually develop authority, visibility, and relevant rankings.

Analysis & strategic foundation

The process began with a comprehensive analysis of the current situation, consisting of:

  • Keyword and market analysis
  • Competitive analysis at the keyword and visibility level
  • Evaluation of the existing technical SEO foundation

This revealed a clear market potential in the area of ​​Damascus knives, kitchen knives and accessories, with an annual search volume of around 97,920 search queries for the 20 most important keywords alone.

Landing page expansion – Content strategy

Instead of creating new pages, the focus was deliberately placed on expanding and optimizing existing category and product pages. Prioritized focus keywords were defined monthly and enriched with search intent-oriented content, ranging from "Damascus knives" and "Santoku knives" to "knife care".

In addition, blog articles were specifically planned for information-driven search queries in order to build additional reach in the upper funnel.

Technical SEO & Foundation

In parallel with the content work, the technical basis was optimized, including:

  • clean page structure
  • On-page optimizations (meta titles, internal linking, UX)
  • Preparing for scalable growth

This created a stable SEO foundation that enables long-term growth and is not dependent on short-term paid measures.

Monthly SEO services

After initially establishing the SEO foundations, we took over ongoing, monthly SEO support. The focus was less on operational content production and more on technical stabilization, a clean international setup, and continuous performance monitoring.

A key component of the monthly support was assistance with hreflang declarations to ensure the correct delivery of content for the various language and country versions. The goal was to avoid duplicate content issues, optimize indexing, and clearly assign relevance to each market.

The monthly SEO reports served not only to ensure transparency but, above all, to strategically contextualize the results. Trends were clearly interpreted and translated into concrete recommendations to sustainably and efficiently develop the SEO channel.

Results

The implemented SEO strategy showed clearly measurable results after only a short time. While Misaki Knives had very little organic presence at the beginning of the collaboration, the website gradually developed into a visible player in the Swiss market for kitchen and Damascus knives.

At the start of the SEO roadmap, the visibility index was 0.1315, with only 185 ranking keywords. Through structured content creation, technical stabilization, and a clean international setup, organic performance was sustainably improved.

Misaki - Results

Today, misaki-knives.ch achieves a visibility index of 0.51 and is found in organic search results for 463 keywords. This means that visibility has almost quadrupled within the period under review, while keyword coverage has more than doubled.

What's particularly crucial is not just the number of rankings, but their quality and business relevance. Misaki Knives managed to position himself directly in Google's top 3 for key search terms:

  • Damascus steel knives from Switzerland – Position 1
  • Kitchen knife – Position 2
  • Damascus knife – Position 3

These keywords are among the most important search queries in the market and generate highly qualified traffic with a clear purchase intention.

Despite the long-term nature of SEO, a clearly positive business impact was achieved within the period under review. The SEO channel currently shows a return on investment (ROI) of 3.9%.

This means:

Every franc invested in SEO generated multiple returns without further increasing dependence on ongoing advertising budgets. It is particularly noteworthy that this ROI is based not on short-term effects, but on sustainable rankings and organic demand.

SEO has thus evolved from a neglected channel to an economically relevant growth driver that strategically complements and secures paid traffic in the long term.

The collaboration with Misaki Knives exemplifies the strategic leverage that search engine optimization can unleash, even in highly performance-driven e-commerce models. Starting with a domain lacking significant authority and minimal organic visibility, a sustainable and profitable SEO channel was built within a short period of time.
